On Tuesday, EMF headed to Sutton for what proved to be another record-setting 18 holes. After 9 holes, the Bobcats were 3 behind the hometown Mustangs, but the Cats were unfazed and flipped the script on the back 9. Aidan Vavra led the way with a back 9 score of 34(-2), carding him a career best 76 for the day. Vavra also took home 3rd place, but the rest of the Bobcats were not far behind. Jacob Klooz put together a strong round of 77(4th place), and Carter Milton scored a 78(5th place). Mikey Bartu shot a career-best 81 to earn 11th place, and Zach Spohn rounded out the scoring with 84. In high school golf, generally, you take the best 4 scores for your team and drop the 5th. Having to drop an 84 means that your team has done very well, so well that the Bobcats set an EMF record for team score with 312, beating last year's 316 at Thayer Central. The Cats also finished 8 strokes ahead of Sutton to take home the team crown. For those of you counting at home, that is an 11-stroke swing on the back nine.

After a beautiful and successful Tuesday in Sutton, it was on to York for the May Classic. This tournament includes several local class C/D teams, but also many class A/B teams' JV squads. The Cats finished second to a stout Bennington JV team 323 to 335, a great score on a tough York course. Aidan Vavra continued taking care of business and earning 11th place(83). Other varsity players were  Mikey Bartu(86), Zach Spohn(89) and Cohen Harre(93). The star of the show on Wednesday; however, was defending champion Carter Milton. Last year's 74 was a meet record, and he was poised to make another run. Milton started off strong, even thru 7 holes, but a triple bogey on his 8th hole(#17) put a hurt on his chances. He recovered nicely with a par on his 9th and then headed to the back nine in contention. Carter's 38 on his first 9 followed by a solid 39 on the back had him in the clubhouse 2 strokes behind the leader. Leading was Bennington JV's Jack Pohlman who had been solid all day and had 5 holes left to play. The Bobcats waited anxiously to see if there would be a playoff, and as Pohlman bogeyed the 14th, the lead was down to 1. Another bogey on 17 put Milton tied for the lead as he warmed up on the putting green, but when Pohlman bogeyed the 18th as well, it was back-to-back May Classic titles for Milton(78).
