Wednesday, April 30th was a great day for EMF golf, both as a team and individually. The Palmyra Invite at Woodland Hills brought out the best in the Bobcats as they went up against 17 area schools in a slightly different format than usual. Schools were allowed to bring two teams of three players each and compete separately in the "Gold" and "Silver" divisions. In the Silver division, Mikey Bartu started the scoring with a 90 and Cohen Harre followed up with 85, earning 7th place. Zach Spohn stole the show; however, starting with a back nine 39 and then getting hot on the front side to finish with a 36. His 75 was a personal best and earned him 2nd place in the silver division. The EMF team took 2nd place in the silver division, but the Cats weren't done yet.
The Gold division saw even more success, starting with Aidan Vavra's 81 finishing just outside the top 10. Next was Jacob Klooz who, after a slow start, shot a one-under 35 on the back to post 76 and take home 4th place honors. There was intermittent rain throughout the day, but nothing could put out the Bobcats fire, and no one was hotter than Carter Milton. Milton started with a birdie on the first hole, and they just kept on coming. Seven birdies and only one bogey on the day had Carter 8 strokes ahead of the field and at the top of the EMF record books when all was said and done. Milton's 65 was more than enough for an individual and team win for the Bobcats.
We're in the home stretch of the season with just a few meets before districts, and the Cats have shown they are here to compete. Next week, EMF heads to Sutton and York. Stay Tuned!
